DIASPORA ViBE’s Artist of the Day
CAROL JAIME
Carol was born of Cuban parents in Hoboken, New Jersey on October 8, 1971. Her father Jaime Jaime, who introduced Carol to music and painting very early in life, has always influenced her. Growing up she participated in drama and other extracurricular activities at school. In 1990 she began college at the University of Vermont, and she discovered her love of wood sculpture. Under the apprenticeship of Paul Ascenbach, a stone sculptor/ professor, she studied and developed the techniques of wood sculpting and her admiration for this organic medium began to take shape.  Of the wood she says, “It is my teacher”. Carol now works and resides in Miami Beach.
